Education at 10:45
Education at 10:45
Faith is nurtured through education: seeking the guidance and gifts of the Holy Spirit as we are nurtured as disciples of Jesus. Through creative projects and guided exploration and discussion, we learn how to apply the Biblical story to our lives; we gain a greater understanding of the church, its history, practices and mission; and we learn how to engage the larger issues of the world as Christians. These programs begin at 10:45 on Sunday mornings. Children finish at 11:30 and may join parents in church for Holy Communion.

Sunday School (Pre-K through 5th Grade)
This program helps children build a broader foundation for faith based around the Bible, Sacraments, the Prayer Book, church history, and the Anglican tradition. Using Living the Good News as its core, themes are addressed in depth across several weeks, and children are encouraged to respond as a group in a variety of active ways. Intergenerational events are held during Advent and Lent.
• Pre-K through 1st Grade
Through basic versions of important Old and New Testament stories, the children learn more about key Old Testament figures, the life and ministry of Jesus, and what it means to share the Eucharist, the sacred meal of the church.

• 2nd & 3rd Grade
While still learning largely through stories, 2nd and 3rd graders will deepen their understanding of the people in the Bible and the stories that form the underpinning of our faith. They will learn more about the Prayer Book and the Eucharist.

• 4th & 5th Grade
While most of these older children are familiar with the Eucharist, they will gain a greater understanding of this sacrament as a sign of our shared life with God and our community. They will also learn about the early prophets, the parables of Jesus, and the basic beliefs at the core of our Episcopal faith.

Youth Programs (5th through 12th Grade)
The Youth Programs build on the experience of discipleship. Our young people are encouraged
to work through their own understanding of their faith journey and how it intersects with their
daily lives.
• Junior High: 6th & 7th Grades
The Junior High Sunday morning curriculum is structured to be consistent with our successful Confirmation program. Drawing from Journey to Adulthood’s Rite 13 curriculum and other resources, the students this year will work on Prayer Book literacy while actively engaging such topics as prayer, faith and trust in God, making informed decisions, and caring for the created world.

• Salt & Light Youth Group
Additional time is organized beyond Sunday morning for further exploration of faith, socializing, hands-on service to others, dinner, and just plain fun. St. Luke’s youth gather regularly on Friday evenings and Sundays.
• Salt to meet from 7 - 9 on Fridays
• Light to meet most Tuesdays from 7:30-9
