A traditional Anglican service of Choral Evensong will be held on Sunday, October 28th at 5pm. Evensong offers an hour of music, reflection, and prayer for the evening following an historic liturgy from the Church of England, originating with Thomas Cranmer in 1549 and revised in 1662. The service is filled with beautiful choral music and hymns sung by the semi-professional St. Luke’s Choir directed by Dr. Brian Harlow. The October 28th Evensong features the music of New Jersey native and Pingry School graduate Alfred Fedak. Mr. Fedak’s anthem “Unless the Lord Build the House” was written for the centenary of St. Luke’s Church and first performed on October 17th, 1999. His Bristol Pieces and Responses were composed for the choir of Christ Church in Short Hills for their residency at Bristol Cathedral in 2016.
