Communication Committee

With its stated goal to “enhance and foster two-way communication between clergy, parishioners and the community,” the Communications Committee creates and manages all internal and external communication vehicles, including the weekly e-news, the monthly newsletter, the website and Facebook page. Members of the committee also handle publicity for St. Luke’s news and events and provide ongoing counsel and support to church leadership and other parish committees regarding marketing and public relations opportunities.

If many hands really do make light work, the Communications Committee could sure use some more hands – please volunteer by contacting Valerie Szkodny at

Welcome Ministry Committee

Purpose: ‘To engage, inspire and fulfill those who walk through our doors by: extending a warm invitation to people outside our parish; a hearty greeting and genuine hospitality to newcomers and visitors; and a link for all parishioners that connects them with the many ministries, programs and activities of St. Luke’s so that we are more closely united in celebrating Christ’s love.” The committee plans and supervises the Welcome Ministers network, creates opportunities and events that bring newcomers and parishioners together and assesses the interests and talents of new and long-time parishioners to help everyone become more actively engaged.

Your Personal Calling

A Welcome Ministry isn’t just for newcomers. Our church will feel more welcoming if we all make it a point to talk with those we don’t know well, whether we have seen them in the hallway many times or never. Take a moment every Sunday to extend God’s love to others by reaching out with warmth and hospitality, as if they were guests in your home.

“Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that, some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Heb 13: 1-2
