Come to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, December 19th at 5:00 p.m. for the return of a beautiful seasonal tradition. The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols tells the story of the promise of the Messiah and the birth of Jesus through nine short Bible readings interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols by choir and congregation. St. Luke’s Choir is a semi-professional choir under the direction of Dr. Brian Harlow.
Our service follows the traditional format established by King’s College, Cambridge that has since been used by churches all over the world. This year the choral selections include music by J. S. Bach, Antony Baldwin, Johann Georg Eberling, Patrick Hadley, Boris Ord, John Rutter, and others.
An outdoor reception follows, weather permitting.
