Join Kent and others from the St. Luke’s parish family on the phone line for a comforting service of Compline. We will be doing this every Thursday at 8pm. You can use any phone to call in and join the conversation.
We will begin with a few announcements and updates regarding the rapidly changing developments at St. Luke’s. You will be able to make comments and ask Kent questions. Then Kent will offer a short devotional thought and lead us through the Compline service.
The service of Compline originated in the 4th century as the night prayers of monks in their dormitories. In the centuries that followed it became one of the services of the canonical hours, which included prayer services said in the monastic communities at various times of the day. Compline was the last service of the day.
Compline offers especially comforting words, prayers and Scripture, well suited for times such as this.
We begin with an update from Kent Walley, our Rector, then Q/A, a “devotional thought” and concluding with Compline Prayer (Book of Common Prayer p. 127) Call in this week with the information below.
